Teaching Staff

In Chestnut Class the teaching is shared between Mrs Matyjasik at the beginning of the week and Mrs Bohin from Wednesday.

In Redwood Class the teacher is Miss Painter.

Mrs Pedder is the Learning Support Assistant for both classes.

At the start of the school day Year 3 are collected by their class teacher to come into the school building.

School begins at 8.40am and finishes at 3.00pm each day.

Reading

Every child will be given their own levelled reading book and reading record which will be checked by the class teacher on a Friday. We encourage you to read as much as possible with your children at home, talking together about what you read. Please feel free to record any information in your child's reading record.

Across the school, reading books are levelled using a colour coded system. Within Year 3, we keep a wide selection of books in each classroom. We encourage the children to change their own books independently.

We read together as a class daily. We also regularly hear children read individually. Please ensure that your child brings their reading book and book bag into school every day.

PE

Year 3 have their outdoor PE lesson on a Monday afternoon.

Please ensure that your child’s PE kit includes a t-shirt, shorts and a pair of plimsolls or trainers. During the colder months we encourage the children to bring in a pair of jogging bottoms, a jumper, gloves and a hat to keep them warm.

Please ensure that your child has their PE kit available in school at all times.

Water Bottles & Snacks

We are proud to have achieved a healthy school award and as part of this we encourage all children in Key Stage 2 to bring a healthy snack of either fruit or vegetables to eat at break time.

Children should bring in their own, labelled, water bottle which they have access to throughout the day.

Home Learning

Within Year 3 your children will receive a termly homework summary sheet with a variety of links and options to support the work that we are doing in school. This can be found here.

We would ask that you continue to read regularly with your children in Year 3, even if your child is reading fluently independently.

Spelling lists are sent out termly and can also be found here.

Outdoor clothes and shoes

Due to current COVID guidelines, children are spending an increased amount of time outside and lunchtimes are being spent on the school field. Please can you ensure that your child has appropriate clothing and wellies in school at all times.

We thoroughly enjoy taking the children off site to enhance their learning.

Unfortunately, we are currently unable to go on trips due to COVID restrictions, please look out for the termly newsletter that will inform you if this changes.
