Newsletters and Letters

Please find below newsletters from the Year 6 team:

Term 2 2021 Newsletter - important information about our Term 2 WOW day!

Walking home permissions- this form MUST be completed in order for your child to be able to walk home independently.

Homework - Microsoft Teams

As a result of our successful implementation of Microsoft Teams for remote learning and in a bid to become as eco-friendly as we can as a school, all homework will be set as assignments via your child's class Teams page.

All children have their own log ins and passwords in which to access this via. If you have any problems with logging in or with access to a device through which to do this, please speak to your child's class teacher. Any password resets should please be sent to helpdesk@clevedonlearningtrust.org.uk, stating your child's username and school and the issue you are having. The central IT team will be happy to help you as soon as possible.

Homework will be uploaded on a Friday. All homework should be returned to school by Friday at 9am of the following week.

There is no expectation that homework is printed, children can work from the screen and record their answers into their homework books with photos submitted via the assignments tool if this is easier.

Each week the Year 6 children will be expected to complete:

1. Reading comprehension and/or GPS (grammar, punctuation and spelling)

2. Maths (linked to the week's class learning)

3. Spellings (Year 5 and 6 Statutory words and spelling rules/patterns). These will be tested on a Friday.

Times Tables Sheets

In class, the children have been practising their times tables daily. This has involved completing a strip of 40 mixed times tables in 2 minutes. We have noticed a huge improvement in the children's speed and accuracy in the last couple of weeks and feel this method is hugely benefiting them. If your child would like to practise these at home, we have provided the strips below:

 Year 5 & 6 Statutory Spellings

During Year 6, children will be assessed on their writing. Part of this assessment involves spelling and the ability to correctly spell many of the Year 5 and 6 Statutory word lists independently in their work.  A list has been attached below for your reference:
